Burts Bees
Their story began in the 1980s with beeswax products and their personal skin care range owes its origins to a precious 19th century book of home-made personal care recipes – which set the scene for development of the company according to a philosophy of care and concern for both consumers and the environment. The company is also committed to the environment, using only recycled and recyclable packaging and nature-safe manufacturing processes.
What do we mean when we say ‘natural’?
Burt’s Bees is a member of the Natural Product Association and, in partnership with other leading brands in the natural personal care category, is committed to the NPA definition of ‘natural’. To be a ‘natural’ product, the NPA says it must contain a minimum of 95% natural ingredients. Put simply, this means at least 95% of the ingredients come from a renewable resource in nature and has been minimally processed to preserve its integrity. At Burt’s Bees, we also mean our products will never contain ingredients suspected of, or known to be harmful to humans. We don’t use petrochemicals, sodium lauryl sulphate, parabens or phthalates. Crafted from time-tested, proven recipes, all Burt’s Bees products feature a “percent natural” banner, reinforcing the company’s commitment to bringing consumers the best ingredients nature has to offer. Burt’s Bees is committed to reaching 100% natural certification of the entire product range in 2009, as certified by the NPA.
Burt’s Bees does not test products on animals.
