Armani Onde Collection
by Mitsouko
In 2008 the Armani Empire created a most exquisite and exotic addition to its line of fragrances. It’s a collection of three scents, each of which symbolises an eastern region of the world.
To this day the House of Armani has many successful women’s scents to its name, Aqua Di Gio, Armani Code, Sensi, and Diamonds. These are just a few in this vast aromatic collection. This collection is called Onde, which means ‘wave or ripple’. Each perfume wafts through the air like a wave of olfactory sensation. Each is based on a spice or scent which traditionally aromatically represents that country.
All three flacons have rippling or waving effects moulded into the glass. Each scent has been inspired by feminine traditions and rituals of seduction whether it is a Geisha House, Harem or Royal Raj room.
Onde ‘Mystere’
Onde ‘Mystere’ is inspired by the harem of the old Middle East. It’s classed as a musky oriental scent and is housed within a purple bottle with ripples floating horizontally around as if in a puff of mystical incense. It is capped with a black stopper laced by a red tassel. The traditional musk – amber heart has been given a feminine softness by the addition of Moroccan rose. It has then been enriched with vanilla, incense and a hint of spices so as to heighten its mystery further. Close your eyes and inhale ‘Mystere’ and it will transport to into the closed world of the harem with its sumptuous settings, women with kohl rimmed cats eyes and heady fragrance.
Onde ‘Vertige’
Next in this wondrous collection is ‘Vertige’ which is inspired by the royal Raj rooms of the Indian empire. Classed as a Floriental, this pink bottle is etched with horizontal waves as if you are watching perfume incense rising up to the ornately decorated ceilings. This also has a black cap and tied with a rose coloured tassel. It opens with the scent of sensual jasmine and frangipani only to be spiced by black liquorice and softened at base with patchouli. All blended to created a lingering aroma floating softly on brightly coloured silk saris worn by beautifully gold adorned women.
Onde ‘Extase’
Last in the collection is ‘Extase’. The inspiration behind this scent was the Japanese geisha house. Again this is etched with ripples on the green bottle and laced with a green tassel. Only this time the ripples are uniform and precise. Your eye is drawn to the aesthetic beauty of these lines as if watching water gently rippling in a pond. This scent is a Woody oriental. It opens with a floral blend of Mimosa, Jasmine and Narcissus, all of which you would expect to find growing gracefully in a Japanese garden. Your senses are then awakened by pink pepper and bergamot, all wrapped together in an Obi of cedar and musk. As the kimonos elegantly wave though the air like fans emitting this gentle fragrance of a far away Eastern land, you sit back on the tatami and gently sip some green tea.
Which land inspires you the most? Which intrigues you?
The house of Armani was captivated and seduced by all three fascinating and faraway lands and all three scents created is a must in anyone’s collection.

I thought fragrance wise Mystere was the best. I was surprised at the name as Rochas has had a perfume called Mystere for at least 20 years.
I have Mystere and Exstase and am always asked what I'm wearing!! I don't have any other Armani fragrances but these new exotics have grabbed my nose receptors!! The bottles are very tactlie and and the form and colour reflect the perfume's aesthetic.
I love the pine cone bottles of Pino Silvestre as they remind me of my dear old dad who always had a bottle in the bathroom!:heartbeat:
