Review: Clarins Sun Care Range
A big thank you to our road testers for their honest thoughts on the Clarins Sun Care Range. Each reviewer answered three questions: overall what did you think; did the product perform as expected; would you buy this again?
Clarins Sun Control Cream For Face SPF 15 - reviewed by Rosie
Overall what did you think?
Love it. Fantastic product. Even my (impossibly picky) 12 year old son liked it. Fragrance was a surprise, like the suncreams of my childhood. Texture is fab, and gentle on skin.
Did it perform as expected?
Yes, I was actually surprised, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. The incidental sun exposure I got has brought some much needed colour into my face.
Would you buy this again?
In a heartbeat. This lets me get that little bit of colour, purely though incidental sun exposure to stay looking healthy. Probably not one I would use in summer, as I tan too easily, but for winter, it's perfect
Clarins After Sun Moisturizer with Self Tan - reviewed by VeeE
Overall what did you think?
It has a really nice texture and it initially has a nice smell. It is extremely hydrating and the hydration lasts all day and night. The problem I had with this product though is that I put it one before bed and when I woke up I had the worst fake tan smell I’ve ever experienced. I had to wash my pyjama pants to get the smell out! The colour of the tan is nice and subtle, although I think if you had darker skin than me you probably wouldn’t see much change.
Did it perform as expected?
Yes. Although I hadn’t been in the sun, you can tell it would be soothing on slightly burned skin. The colour as I mentioned before was nice.
Would you buy this again?
Probably not. There were aspects of this product that I liked, but for the price I don't think it’s not worth it for me. Also, the tan smell after a while was unbearable for me.
Clarins Sun Control Cream for Sensitive Skin - reviwed by Rubisco
Overall what did you think?
I really like this product! In the past I've had a lot of problems finding a sunscreen that doesn't irritate my skin (easily done), but my skin seems to love this.
Did it perform as expected?
The cream absorbed really nicely into my (combination) skin, and isn't heavy, and didn't leave a greasy feeling like so many other sun care products do. It sits really well under my foundation (which is either Bloom's liquid foundation or Ultraceuticals Mineral foundation). The fragrance isn't the greatest, but this is very faint and not particularly noticable. It also doesn't leave that white wash look you can get from other high spectrum suncreens
Would you buy this again?
Definately, I'm really impressed! I've been using Megan Gale Invisible Zinc Junior, but find it too heavy and greasy for every day wear. I'd still wear it for trips to the beach etc, but I'll be using this Clarins one under my makeup now I think.
Clarins After Sun Ultra Moisturising Lotion - reviewed by Celeste
Overall what did you think?
I am not a fan of this product. The lotion went on greasy and didn’t sink in to my skin. All day, I could feel the layer sitting on top of my skin and it looked kind of shiny. Perhaps good to wear for a night out, but not good during the day.
Did it perform as expected?
I was expecting a deeper, more penetrating moisture, however this lotion sat on top of my skin and made it feel quite greasy. I found it has quite a peculiar scent which I did not like at all. Hard to describe it, but it did not agree with my nose.
Would you buy this again?
Unfortunately, no. I am a big fan of Clarins but this product was a bit of a disappointment.
Clarins Self Tanning Gel – reviewed by Charasmatic
Overall what did you think?
This product consists of a non-greasy, clear, smooth gel that is easy to apply and provides a flawless coverage. Although the gel has a subtle scent it is not offensive. Gel is readily absorbed leaving skin soft and smooth and enabling immediate dressing. A golden colour develops after a few hours, for a richer tan, additional applications would be required. Colour lasts 3-5 days.
Did it perform as expected?
My expectations were of a quality product that would colour my skin caramel
brown, leaving it feeling conditioned and tanned for 3-5 days. I guess my only disappointment was the lightness of colour on me, once developed.
Would you buy this again?
This product would be in my top three self tanners.
