Dry Shampoo to the Rescue!

image
You’re late and your hair looks a little on the grease ball side.  It’s no problem!  I have two words for you ladies: Dry shampoo.  It’s the modern day gal’s savior.  It’s quick, no fuss, inexpensive and oh so practical. Dry Shampoo is perfect for your summer camping festival but really, who doesn’t want to save time day to day too?

Dry shampoos are completely waterless, you just shake the can and spray to your roots where your hair feels lack luster.  The ‘shampoo’ absorbs the extra oil leaving your hair refreshed, grease free and ready to style. You may find a dusty residue left behind but it’s easy to bush or towel away.

The Batiste Dry Shampoo is an old favorite it’s been used in back stage fashion shows and shoots to add life to lank locks. The Klorane Dry shampoo has made its mark and contains oat extract to soften while mopping up your oil.

Dry ShampooBeat the oil slick with:
  • 1. Ojon Rub Out Dry Cleaner
  • 2. Rene Furterer Dry Shampoo
  • 3. Stila Dry Shampoo
  • 4. Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo
  • 5. Aveda Pure Abundance hair potion
  • 6. Batiste Dry Shampoo
  • 7. Klorane Dry Shampoo

Yyyeeesss! This is one of my quick-fix products that I could not live without.
I am currently on my second can of the Klorane dry shampoo from Priceline. I have also heard of Batiste brand. I tried Bumble & Bumble's from MECCA but had really bad results from that (It stained my forehead, hair and bathroom tiles brown!!). Not on my recommendation list.
I did not realise so many brands make them so now I am interested in Ojon and Stila's. I did not realise Stila also made haircare products...

I found dry shampoo really great when I was blonde, but now I have trouble. Does the Ojon one leave a white cast?

Try Lee Stafford.

Priceline. It comes in a mini can too which is good for getaways.

I am using Batiste Blush at the moment which is ok, but not as good.

There is also one for brunettes, cant remember which brand but I know its pretty exxy.

I have tried Lee Stafford's heat protector which smelt yuck and left my hair feeling like straw but that was about 2 years ago. The packaging is different now and the forumlations might be new and improved.

BP, what is the Batiste Blush like...does it have a different colour powder spray or does the Blush one just smell different? Thanks :)

The Lee Stafford dry shampoo ($4.95 for a baby can) smells fantastic, almost like good perfume!

The different Batiste scents are just variants on the original.

Thanks for clearing that up, Luisa :)

I have been using Klorane, but once I've used it up, I don't think I'll re-purchase. It's much easier just shampooing and conditioning my hair in the shower!

I love dry shampoos and with my long hair which has very oily scalp/roots and very brittle/dry ends, I find it perfect for soaking up oilies without having to over wash and potentially damage the ends. The Klorane one is my staple - nice and gentle.

I have also tried Batiste - both the Tropical and Blush scented ones and these are also lovely and in my opinion work just as well as the Klorane. The scents are quite strong and last all day in my hair. This one also tends to texturise my hair a little more than the Klorane version.

I have also tried the Toni and Guy version which is more pricey but I do not like this one as much because it is no better from experience than the cheaper ones I have tried and it has quite a strong chemical smell.

I am very blonde so it is easy for me to use dry shampoos but a word of advice for those who find it hard to use - make sure you hold the can AT LEAST 10-15 cms from the hair and constantly move the can around the head to make sure too much does not build up in the one spot. And regularly clean the nozzle so it comes out consistently. :)

Good tip Sapphire - maybe I've been spraying too much too closely to my hair.

No worries, lovely one. x

I've always been dark and yes I agree don't spray too closely but it's important to brush the 'dust/residue' out so you don't look grey! I dust over with a towel just to be safe. It is the bomb for fringes- keeps them looking fresh when they need a wash but the rest of your hair doesn't.

I definitely agree with the fringe theory...it has fringe benefits lol!!! :)

I have tried both Klorane & Batiste, & found the Klorane one suits me better...
I only use this stuff in emergencies or when travelling...I have a fringe & it's the bomb for freshing it up! :praise:
Couldn't live w/o this stuff in summer :sunbaking:

I think I have overdone it with the dry shampoo today. Snuggling on the couch (awww) S closely inspected my head and said "why does it look like you have really fine dandruff?" :chuckle:

Uh Oh BeachPrincess! I sometimes get that, so I try to spray it further away and that works - as well as regular hair washing, etc. Hope it doesn't irriatate you :)

I use my Klorane daily over my roots and my fringe and as I have blonde hair, it makes the roots look like they've been touched up. Noice! :clapping:

You wont believe this... I purchased Klorane's dry shampoo about 4 weeks ago and used it on one occasion. I went to use it the other day to find it COMPLETELY empty! Has this happened to anyone else? I dont think I have the receipt to return it either :(

I saw those in Priceline recently!

I thought they were newly repackaged Batiste but it seems to have been added onto the existing 3 (original, tropical and blush)

Also i don't get why using Batiste today has made my straightened hair look better than it did yesterday?! o_0
